Anthony Smith MAPS

Clinical Psychologist

Pronouns: He/Him

I am a registered clinical psychologist with diverse experience across public and private mental health sectors. I work with clients across the lifespan, firmly believing in everyone’s potential for growth and change, no matter their stage in life. My approach to therapy is grounded in the therapeutic alliance. I work hard to create spaces where clients feel safe, supported, and heard.

I have a special interest in working with neurodiverse people, people living with a disability, sexual health and working with LGBTQIA+ individuals. I am progressive, value diversity and inclusion.

I hold the following academic qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology)

  • Bachelor of Social Work (Honours)

  • Graduate Diploma of Psychology

  • Master of Psychology (Clinical).

I have also completed training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR level 1 training) and clinical hypnosis/hypnotherapy (Dr Michael Yapko 100 hour Strategic Psychotherapy and Hypnosis training).

I have completed specialist training at the Institute of Sexology and Sexual Medicine at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin in Dissexuality Therapy. Dissexuality Therapy seeks to prevent child sexual abuse and the use of child exploitation material, by helping people who are sexually interested in children manage these interests without acting on them.

I am a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).

Please get in touch if you'd like to explore working together. I am a Medicare registered provider and can work with NDIS participants who are Plan Managed or Self Managed.
